Sensei Brian Cox first started Karate Training during 1974, after having spent many years, from a very young age, involved in the sport of Water Skiing. Within the Karate-do environment, Sensei Cox has achieved more than most people would achieve in a chosen discipline, or sport. Even those who have started at a very young age. His dedication has taken him from White Belt in 1974, to Seventh Dan in 2004.

Some of the highlights of Sensei Cox's Karate career are as follows;

Attendance at every S.K.I. Australia Shotokan Week, usually attended by Kanazawa Sensei, held since 1978. Up to 1987 as a practitioner and since as a Teacher. Kanazawa Sensei has influenced much of Sensei Cox's Karate-do philosophy.

Training in Japan, with the S.K.I.F., during 1982 and participating as an Official at the 1988 S.K.I.F. World Championships, held in Japan.

A career in both Shotokan Karate International and Australian Karate Federation competition, between 1975 and 1986, which culminated with Sensei Cox's participation in the 1986 W.U.K.O., All Styles World Championship, as a Member of the Australian National Team.

Kanazawa Sensei, the International Chief Instructor for the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation, has been the main influence on Sensei Cox's Karate since the early 1980's.

Sensei Cox, often receives invitations to teach at Seminars being run by State Branches of S.K.I. Australia. He continues to visit other States, to this day, and regards each invitation as another highlight in his career.

Sensei Cox is currently the Memberships Officer for S.K.I. Australia, a Licensed S.K.I.F. Dan Grade Examiner, and in the past has held such positions as Vice President, Treasurer and last but not least was the Chairman of the Technical Development Committee for many years. He has also developed computer skills and is responsible for the setting up of the National Associations Memberships Database and Grading Register.

The Miranda RSL Youth Club Dojo is, of course, his pet project, which will continue to produce highlights for him and hopefully for his Students.
