Thank you to everyone who attended this morning’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Miranda War Memorial. As an important day in the Youth Club calendar, it was heartening to see the Youth Club well represented with numerous members and their parents in attendance. There was also an impressive community turn out with crowds spilling out of Central Road onto Parkside Avenue.

A special thanks goes to Club Treasurer Bill Lewis who organised the set up for the ceremony and our many volunteers who helped with the barbecue and equipment pack down.

No matter where you are today, we hope that you can take the time to reflect on the spirit of the ANZACs and express your gratitude for the dedication and courage of our service men and women.

Lest We Forget.

Congratulations to our National Stream athletes who competed in the 2018 Senior State Championships. This competition was the final qualification event for those wishing to compete at the 2018 National Gymnastics Championships.

A special congratulations to Olivia T. who placed 6th on Tumbling in the U11 Women’s competition and Anastasia G. who placed 6th on Double Mini in the U15 Women’s competition.

Olivia (pictured below) will be representing the Youth Club as a member of the State Team at the National Championships which will be held in Melbourne later this year. She is one of only a handful of athletes on the 2018 State Team to qualify for Nationals across all three individual disciplines (Trampoline, Double Mini and Tumbling). Tully A. also qualified for Nationals but has declined to attend. Anastasia was unfortunately unable to qualify on either of her two events.

ANZAC Day is a very important date in the Youth Club calendar. It is a time for reflection, a chance to pay tribute to those who have served and to thank those who continue to serve today. This year’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service will be held on the 25th of April at the Miranda War Memorial. Youth Club members are strongly encouraged to attend.

All Youth Club members are asked to wear their club t-shirt and meet out the front of Diggers Miranda on The Kingsway at 5:15 am to march at 5:30 am. Refreshments will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the service.

Term 1 is drawing to a close so here’s a quick update on the key dates you need to know. Classes in Term 1 will finish on Thursday the 12th of April. Trampoline classes will resume in Term 2 on Monday the 30th of April and Karate will resume on Tuesday the 1st of May.

We hope you have a lovely break and we look forward to having you back for another exciting term at Miranda RSL Youth Club.

Congratulations to our Trampoline and Tumbling levels athletes who kicked off their competition season with a solid performance at Grand Prix 1. We had a total of six athletes compete across three different disciplines. While our athletes were not able to come away with any places, it was still a very enjoyable day for all involved and we are very proud of the hard work and dedication of our competitors.

Thank you once again to all our wonderful coaches, volunteers and parents who help make these events possible.
